Moving to Belgrade

Today we look at moving to Belgrade in Serbia from Kigali in Rwanda. We highlight cost of living and other major differences likely to be experienced in our series of short blogs on moving between different international locations.
In Belgrade people speak Serbian. In Kigali people speak Kinyarwanda (official), French (official), English (official) and Swahili.

Belgrade is the capital and largest city of Serbia. Kigali is the capital and largest city of Rwanda. Belgrade is the central economic hub of Serbia, and the capital of Serbian education and science. Kigali is the economic, cultural, and transport hub of Rwanda.
The overall cost of living rank in Belgrade is 179 out of 300 global locations, which equates it with middle cost of living locations.  An expatriate moving from Kigali to Belgrade will experience a change in cost of living of 0.6%.

In terms of the hardship people are likely to experience, assessed in global terms, Belgrade is ranked as an extreme hardship location with a hardship index of 40% the same as Kigali.
