Today we look at moving to Milan in Italy from Calcutta in India. We highlight cost of living and other major differences likely to be experienced in our series of short blogs on moving between different international locations.
In Milan people speak Italian. In Calcutta people speak Hindi, English and at least 16 other official languages.

Milan, is the capital of the region of Lombardia and of the province of Milan. Calcutta is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Milan is one of the EU's and the world's major financial and business centres. Milan is also regarded as the true current fashion capital of the world. Calcutta is the main business, commercial and financial hub of eastern India and the northeastern states. It is home to the Calcutta Stock Exchange, India's second-largest bourse. It is also a major commercial and military port, and the only city in the region to have an international airport.
