Today I would like to discuss Hong Kong in China. If you were to be sent to Hong Kong on an expatriate assignment or if you were to relocate there, you are likely to meet people who speak Chinese (mainly Cantonese) and English (both official).
The cost of clothing, food and beverages, housing and transport is very high. Hong Kong is a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China. Hong Kong's highly favourable geographical position and trading opportunities are wealth-generating assets.
From a day to day comfort perspective, you are likely to experience some hardship. Be sure to negotiate an appropriate salary or allowance to compensate for the cost of living. If you live in Hong Kong or if you lived there recently, let us know what your experience has been. Would you live in Hong Kong again?
