Moving to Jamestown

Today we look at moving to Jamestown in Saint Helena from Asuncion in Paraguay. We highlight cost of living and other major differences likely to be experienced in our series of short blogs on moving between different international locations.

Jamestown is the capital of the island of Saint Helena. Asuncion is the capital and largest city of Paraguay. Asuncion is the home of the national government, principal port, and the chief industrial and cultural centre of the country. Local manufacturing production includes footwear, textiles, and tobacco products.

Ascension: surface covered by lava flows and cinder cones of 44 dormant volcanoes; ground rises to the east
Tristan da Cunha: sheer cliffs line the coastline of the nearly circular island; the flanks of the central volcanic peak are deeply dissected; narrow coastal plain lies between The Peak and the coastal cliffs.
