Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe

Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe, is the capital and second largest city in the country.  The official language is French and locals also speak a dialect of Creole. While the weather here is tropical tempered by trade winds with moderately high humidity. The surrounding areas consist of forest, grassland and sugar, coffee, banana and cocoa plantations.

The cost of transport and clothing is low, while housing, food and beverages is high compared to other places.

From a day to day comfort perspective, you are likely to experience a high degree of hardship.
