Assignment in Brasilia

Today I would like to discuss Brasilia in Brazil. If you were to be sent to Brasilia on an expatriate assignment or if you were to relocate there, you are likely to experience weather that is mostly tropical, but temperate in south. You will meet people who speak Portuguese.

The cost of clothing and housing is very high. The cost of food and beverages is high. The cost of transport is average. Brasília is the capital of Brazil. The major roles of construction and of services (government, communications, banking and finance, food production, entertainment, and legal services) in Brasília's economy reflect the city's status as a governmental rather than an industrial centre.

From a day to day comfort perspective, you are likely to experience some hardship. Be sure to negotiate an appropriate salary or allowance to compensate for the cost of living.

If you live in Brasilia or if you lived there recently, let us know what your experience has been. Would you live in Brasilia again?
